2022 : A Year of Change
After two years of everyday feeling like the exact same day 2022 proved to be a year of change for us.
One change for our household was Leila's transition from preschool to Pre-K. Leila's excitement was hard to tamper down when she began going to 'the big school'. She ended her term at the preschool she was attending and started pre-Kindergarten. This led to (very) early morning clock alarms, quick transitions from pajamas to school uniforms, and even quicker politely aggressive drives to make sure she arrived to school on time. Leila is truly enjoying her Pre-K transition and seems to be thriving in the new environment. She is learning a lot (we can see the progress almost daily), making friends, and developing a personality that very frequently has us struggling to keep from laughing at the things she says and does.
While Leila changed schools there also was a change of jobs in the Mitchell household. John accepted a position with Citi(group) and began his role of Assistant Vice-President of the Consumer Banking Organization of Risk and Control. He is excited by the change (almost as excited as Leila was by hers) and looks forward to contributing and growing in the role.
To round out the change in the Mitchell household Naquia accepted a new position within Emory. She will work at the Emory University School of Medicine Dean’s Office as the Associate Director of Research Programs and Operations. Naquia will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and oversight of major administrative and operational activities related to research conducted by Emory faculty at Grady Hospital. She is excited for this new chapter in her career in Research Administration at Emory. She is ESPECIALLY excited of the new 3-mile commute to work!
We spent the year returning to our new normal after the previous two years of quarantine redefining life for many of us. The biggest aspect of 2022 that we wanted to undertake was spending quality time with the people we hadn't had the chance to enjoy as much during the quarantine. The hunger to reconnect manifested itself through impromptu porch hangout sessions, group trips with neighbors, and gatherings with family ranging from gender reveals to Thanksgiving dinner being hosted at our home. We have missed so many of you SO much! If we haven't reconnected yet... Let's make it happen!
We limited our travel significantly during the pandemic. Out of an abundance of concern we rarely left Atlanta and even more rarely left Georgia. Well... That changed this year!
This year the Mitchells got moving in a BIG way. Travel was something we yearned for and while it wasn't a goal it almost seemed that we tried to make up for lost time. During 2022, the Mitchells traveled to the following places and can't wait to see more soon!
Denver
Orlando
St. Simons Island, GA
McDowell, MO
Indianapolis
Chattanooga
New Orleans
